Very close to the end of our holiday at Skanes Tunisia I found myself introduced to “Penkridge Man”, a very strange tourist indeed. Annette, expert people watcher that she is, had already clocked him and told me he was “not all there”. To be blunt he was not a “full shilling” and appeared to be a complete fish out of water.

Poor sod was, as far as we could tell, on his own and clearly unhappy with the heat and told us he was just waiting to go home. He spent most of his day clutching a bottle of mineral water and latching on to anyone who was sat on their own and went into his spiel about his “village” and how fed up he was.

I found it quite anoying that; firstly he had been sold an all inclusive booze and sunshine holiday when he clearly had little interest in either and secondly that he had been let out without supervision.  I have to say I found the ten minutes or so we spent with him tedious, not very sympathetic I know but, you had the feeling that if you made eye contact he would be like the stray dog that follows you home.

What cretin was so intent on making a commission sale that they sent him out there on his own to be miserable for two weeks?
