Well the crafty swine forced me to go in for a checkup by refusing to renew prescriptions until I had had a review of my medications. When I queried the ethics of this with the receptionist with the over inflated ego, she haughtily suggested I discuss the matter with the doctor when I attend for the review. I bet she watches daytime TV.

Anyway, when I turned up the doctor asked “what can I do for you?”

“sign to say I’ve had a medication review and I’ll go.”  Not to be; another blood pressure check – a piddling 190 over 140 something, compared to my 240 a couple of months back I think I’m doing well. So off we go again and he asks me what I’m taking now for the blood pressure and I tell him nowt.

The fool then tries to get me back on the same medicines as before and I flatly refuse so then he comes up with something that is supposed to have least side effects. At this point I am asking myself why the hell did he give me stuff in the first place that would make me grow a new head? As we went through the previous medication and I told him the relevant side effects he agreed they could do that but, I needed something.

I think Annette is spot on here, she reckons I was given the cheapest stuff they could get and now he is being forced to try the more costlier medications. I remain skeptical on the new drugs but, have checked the website for side effects and they are minimal compared to previous efforts. Even so, putting this into perspective, from a test of over 1,730 people 8% got dizziness, 8% sleep problems, etc. etc.  In other words some 45 % of the people tested had side effects with this ‘safe’ drug. I won’t hold my breath.

Next he starts on about an asthma check, which I flatly refused as everything is OK and I said I will tell you if the stuff stops working. Then he decided I need another blood test, despite the NHS nurse doing a full test a couple of months ago.  I am by now seriously thinking of walking out, knowing I am being lied to by somebody. He tells me she did not check for ‘keratin’ levels in my blood. “Well how come she told me they were marginally high? Is she psychic or something?”

I am not surprised my blood pressure was high. It just makes me so angry, all the nonsense. If he took half as much notice of me when I go to see him because I am ill as he does when I’m forced to attend a daft check up, he would get much more respect from me.

If I thought there was another doctor out there that was not kowtowing to the NHS regulations on check ups I’d be off like a shot. It is no wonder the NHS is costing so much, the amount of healthy people pestered to attend check ups, blood test, x-rays, bird flu injections etc, takes so much out of the budget there is nothing left for the sick.

Here endeth the rant.
