I had an unpleasant surprise when Firefox decided to automatically update itself yesterday; it blocked FB Purity alowing fbuk to blast thousands of adverts, suggestions, game requests etc all over my homepage. Not only that it had decided to block my Adblocker Plus on the browser homepage blasting me with a stream of pop up adds.
To rub salt into the wound it had reset my home page to Firefox home. Time to fight back; Addblocker was soon reinstated and the home page back to google but, it is an awful complecated bit of tweaking to get permission for FB Purity back into action. So far I have been unable to do this, so I decided toi try and find another browser that might run it.
This was a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack using google. Searching for the best browsers came up with; Firefox, Chrome, some win 10 crap, Opra (no longer supported), Commodo Icedragon and IE. Not much to inspire really. Chrome and Firefox were classed as hostile so was IE and the new Win 10 shit so I decided to give Icedragon a whack.
The download was no problem but, that too had advertising and pop ups gallore. To my surprise when I tried to download Adblocker Plus the blasted thing blocked it and it’d webpage. More searching and I found another link that was supposed to download hassle free, only lead to more frustration. At this point I uninstalled al traces of the poxy Icedragon and tried installing an older version of Firefox and pre 4.2 is listed as still running normal. No Chance. Win 7 told me I had the most up to date version and wouldn’t even consider downloading what I wanted. I even tried going back to a restore point and crappy windows wouldn’t do that either.
In conclusion I can only consider that Firefox have deliberately sold out to advertisers and in particular FBuk big time. The Purity homepage says it has been a policy of Firefox to demand certain certificates of authenticity before it will allow the add ons you have been using previously to now function. I have to say I am almost as angry with Firefox as I am the areshole who wrote the silvershite programme.
Solution: I will try a bit of networking to see if anyone can suggest an alternative browser that will host my vital defenses. In the meantime, I will not use FBuk unles I can patch FB Purity back on. It appears to be working on the front computer but, I don’t know for how long.
