Yet another wierd weekend (for me) with Sunday seeing me and Adam at Birmingham Rep watching Al Murry’s latest tour – “Let’s go bacwards together.” I suppose the strangest thing was that Adam wanted to go with me and he appeared to enjoy himself.

We were offered the tickets by Ash Hewitt as his daughter had bought them for her ex-boyfriend and because of the bad falling out wanted to sell them on.  As luck would have it the show was for a Sunday so I could go.  It was quite a shock when Adam said he wanted to go.

No big drama getting there other than a diversion round the demolition works on the old Library that blocked out route.   We even had time for a mess around with a box of theatrical hats left by the main entrance.  HATS    To my delight there was a Fez in the box and Adam was happy just snapping pictures that I expect will come back to haunt me someday.

The seats were every bit as good as promised, fifth row back on the edge, where I was expecting we might draw some attention, This worried Adam a bit as he didn’t want to become part of the show but, it worried me not.  As it turned out, a couple who were right at the front in a central position, decided they didn’t like their seats and swapped with a couple right in front of us. Having completed this move they were soon dragged into Al’s self induced haggling routine. Adam looked a triffle worried.http://i.huffpost.com/gen/2539578/thumbs/o-AL-MURRAY-BEER-570.jpg

So it was a very funny show, perhaps a tadge more swearing than expected and I believe he managed to offend a few as there were empty seats after the interlude.  Nevertheless, we both had a good laugh and joined in with the group activities that made up a large part of the show. We both concluded he’d probably only got a twenty minute script and the rest was all based on ad libs and responses from the audience.

One for the right honourable Mr Morris: he mentioned he had stood for election and received 318 votes. Eighteen more, he pointed out, than there were Spartans at Thermopoly.

Final words are from Adam: “Mom would have hated it.” That’s how good it was 🙂
