I really should point out now that I was pretty much confused by what was going on now (not really taking much notice) as we were still many miles away from Death In Paradise. So I should ask you all to excuse me as I reamble through these cruise memories in my retelling.
We were at last on the legendary last American Virgin Island, whatever that was called, and they had provided a free bus to take us to the end of the peer where there was stuff going on. However we decided to walk and saw loads of turtles swimming free close to the docking area and ddecided we needed some sun glasses to deal with all the sun. As we got closer to the entrance/end of the pier we could hear some music and Annette saw two 12ft Ninjas walking towards us. They were merely advertising they had a Chinese restaurant in the town so never did us any harm (what a relief). As we celared all the queue of people leaving the ship, I noticed Annette had got through to somebody on the internet again. She was sitting on the other side of the road and chatting up Emma and showing her pictures of the “Ninjas” and turtles. After a good chat we decided to search out the town, starting with the local rag market at about $ an inch, which we gave up and decided to walk along the front, remembering it was Easter and not many places would be open.
It wasn’t too bad a stroll along the front, appart from the blazingly hot weather, roughly 30 degrees celcius, witout hardly any shade. Annette was busy with her map and decided where we were and howwe could get back to the ship. We had however, had a walk along the front, where we saw narrow bits of sand and rocks before the heat got to us. I have to say there was plenty of sweat pouring round Annettes head and she was getting fed up of this. We let her cool down a litle and walked back towards the ship checking out some of the open shops on the way. On the way we saw some more cut out Ninjas, right next door to the Chinese restaurant . A slow walk back and we got on board the ship in time for a free drink or two to recharge our dehydrated bodies. It was once again feeding time so we went up to get more food and drink.
Refreshed, we went up the the pool deck and decided to go and see the comedian from the Rocking Berries, a class act from 1960s that I was determined to see once again. The afternoon past quietly enough, with the little quiz and more “modern music” and we decided it was time to get down to the midle floor and get ready for more food. It really was a wonder we never exploded with the food we all ate but, the heat must have burned most of it all away as we never put any wait on. I still wanted to see Rocking Berries despite Annette’s cetertain knowledge we had already seen the dude on some other ship in the past. As it hapened , Annette was right , it was the same bloke we’d seen some four years earlier and despite him doing the same sort of show it provided enough laughs to pass the time away pretty quickly. He did tell us though that we could catch another “adults” show tomorrow night and were to see him. What could I say, I went and Annette went to sleep.
Back in the room, there was only one thing to do, plan our visit to “Death in Paradise” for tomorrow.
